Hi-Res files are recorded, edited, mixed and mastered at a high sample-rate of 96 KHz and 24-bit digital word length. The Hi-Res master preserves the original sound of the recording much more faithfully than converting it to the standard CD sample rate of 44.1 KHz and 16-bit word length. It means that the listener comes as close as possible to hearing the sound exactly as it is heard in the studio.
